For the first time in Russia, there is a scientifically validated abrasiveness control tool that is accessible and reproducible!
The development was carried out and patented by the RUDN Institute of Digital Dentistry with the participation of the L.F. Vereshchagin Institute for High Pressure Physics and supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
Previously, the market had to rely on the foreign RDA index with significant limitations. The creation of the Russian Abrasiveness Index (RAI) made it possible to close this gap and establish a transparent assessment system, validated in an experimental-clinical study.
The development became the basis for the medical doctoral dissertation of the co-founder of the ‘Diarsi’ Group (brand R.O.C.S.). Svetlana Matelo, written under the scientific consultation of Samvel Apresyan – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Inventor of the Russian Federation, Director of the Institute of Digital Dentistry at RUDN University. It was the accumulated archival samples and regular measurements of the brand over the years that allowed for the calibration of the methodology and confirmed its accuracy. Today, all R.O.C.S.® toothpastes have an RIA index, providing doctors with a clear and reliable guideline for clinical recommendations.
This GOST is not just about dentistry. This is a step towards enhancing product safety, developing domestic technologies, and establishing transparent rules for the entire industry. The standard is voluntary and open to the market — as a tool that everyone can use.
The GOST comes into effect on June 1, 2026.
